Copying puzzles across series

Objective

Learn how you can copy puzzles across different series.

BECOME A PARTNER

Multiple series are available only on our paid plans.

Use case

Several of PuzzleMe™ partners use multiple series to manage their content workflow. In particular, they tend to have a series for games that are in the draft stage and another series for puzzles that have been reviewed and are ready for publication.

info

There are no pre-defined ways in which you can use series on the PuzzleMe dashboard. Feel free to get creative and use it for your desired content management flow.

However, there are billing implications relating to series.

Some common use cases of copying puzzles across series are:

  1. Maintaining a separate series for draft puzzles, and moving them to a separate production series when they are ready
  2. Maintaining separate series for different groups of customers, different brands and different publications within the same PuzzleMe account, and reusing puzzles across the series

Steps to copy puzzles

Copying a puzzle across series
  1. On the PuzzleMe dashboard, find the puzzle that you would like to copy.
  2. Click on the "Clone" button. The "Clone Puzzle" modal will popup.
  3. Select the series where you would like to create a clone of the puzzle.
  • If you select the same series, a copy of the puzzle will be created. Except for the title and the ID, all the other elements of this puzzle (content, metadata, publish time, settings) will be the same as the original puzzle.
  • If you select a different series, a copy of the puzzle will be created in the target series. All the attributes of the puzzle, including the title and ID will be copied over.
  • If you select a different series and a puzzle with the given ID is already present, you will not be able to clone it. In this case, you can
    • Delete the existing puzzle in the target series, and then copy the original puzzle
    • Clone the original puzzle in it's own series, and then copy this clone to the target series. During the first clone, the ID of the puzzle will be changed, and you will be now able to clone it to the target series.
  1. Once the puzzle has been cloned, you can either close the "Clone Puzzle" modal, or switch to the target series where the puzzle was cloned to.
