Creating a puzzle

Objective

Create your first game using the PuzzleMe™ Dashboard.

Now that you're familiar with the PuzzleMe Dashboard, you're ready to create your first game: a 10-word crossword.

In Preparation

Crosswords often center around a theme. Before we start, we encourage you to think of a theme (for example: cars, history, geography or films), and to write down 10 words related to it!

As you move through this tutorial, you'll find several elements of the interface that we haven't mentioned here. That's for a good reason: this tutorial is to show you how you can get a fully functioning game with little effort.

i. Creating a crossword

Creating a crossword
  1. On the PuzzleMe Dashboard, go to the Navigation Bar and click on New Game.

  2. On the New Game page, you can see the different kinds of puzzles that can be created through PuzzleMe. Click on Crossword.

ii. Words

Adding a title & words to your crossword
  1. You are now on the Create Crossword page. In the field Game title, enter a title of your choice for your crossword.

  2. Scroll down to the Crossword entries section, then type the 10 words of your choice.

  3. Click the Create Game button. A popup will appear while PuzzleMe figures out a good grid option to display your crossword.

iii. Clues

Adding clues to your crossword
  1. Click on the Clues dropdown in the Navigation Bar, then select Edit Clues

  2. In the Clue Panel on the right side of the crossword, select a clue.

  3. In the Edit Clue popup modal, click on the Clue Suggestions tab.

  4. Search and select a clue, then click the Save button at the bottom of the popup.

  5. Repeat steps (7) to (9) for the rest of your words.

  6. Once you've added all your clues, click on Save Puzzle in the Navigation Bar.

iv. Finish

Previewing and playing the crossword
  1. Click Preview and Publish, and your game is ready!
