Creating a Word Flower Puzzle
Objective
Learn how to create a Word Flower puzzle on the PuzzleMe™ platform by defining letters and generating/adding valid words.
Word Flower puzzles challenge players to find words using a central letter and a surrounding set of letters.
Steps:
- From your dashboard, click the New Game button and then select Word Flower.
- In the "Create Word Flower" form, ensure the Content tab is selected.
- Enter a Game title.
- Select the Game language. This determines the dictionary used for the optional autofill feature.
- (Optional, but recommended) Enter a Slug, which is a unique identifier for the puzzle used in the URL and embed code. Using a meaningful slug name will help you track your embed codes better and will help avoid mixing up different puzzles. This can happen as you create more and more puzzles!
- In the Enter Letters section:
- Enter 4, 6, or 8 unique Word Flower Letters (comma-separated). These are the outer letters.
- Enter an optional Central Letter.
- Choose whether to Allow Repeatable Letters. If enabled, answer words can reuse any of the available letters (Central + Word Flower). If disabled, each letter can only be used once per word. The input letters themselves must always be unique.
- Optionally, click Autofill Entries to automatically populate the word list using the selected language's dictionary based on your chosen letters and the "Allow Repeatable Letters" setting.
- Note: Autofill is not available for all languages.
- Review the "Words Found" popup. Aim for a manageable number (e.g., under 60) for a good player experience. Adjust letters or the repeatable setting if needed.
- The autofill feature generates words with minimum length 4, but you can manually add words of different lengths.
- Click Confirm to add the found words or Cancel to adjust settings.
- In the Words section, review, add, or remove words:
- Words found via Autofill will appear here. Words using all available letters (pangrams) are highlighted in bold.
- Click Add another entry to manually add a word.
- Optionally, add a Definition for any word. You can use an HTML link (
<a href="...">link text</a>
) for clickable definitions displayed after a word is found. - Click the Trash icon to remove a word.
- Click Create Game.
