How does the word search solver find hidden words?

Yes. Words can run left, right, up, down or diagonally in either direction.
Can I solve a word search without a word list?

How to Solve a Word Search Manually
Prefer solving word searches without a tool? These simple techniques can help you find hidden words faster and avoid scanning the same parts of the grid repeatedly.
- Start with the edges: Check the first and last rows and columns before moving toward the center. Words that begin or end near the border are often easier to spot.
- Look for rare letters: Letters such as Q, X, Z, J and V stand out more clearly in a crowded grid. If one of your target words contains an unusual letter, find that letter first and scan outward from it.
- Scan in one direction at a time: Instead of searching randomly, work through the grid horizontally, vertically and diagonally. Then repeat the process backwards. A systematic approach makes it less likely that you will miss a word.
- Search for distinctive letter combinations: Look for unusual pairs or groups of letters rather than scanning for the entire word at once. A combination such as QU, TH or a repeated letter can be easier to notice.
