TIME Magazine Launches Seven Daily Games
It’s about time. After 100 years, TIME Magazine has launched TIME Games, a new daily destination designed to turn a century of iconic journalism into interactive puzzles. According to COO Mark Howard, this launch aims to give the magazine’s audience “something personal, playful, and distinctly TIME to return to.”
The standout experience is Market Movers, a fantasy prediction game where players choose the outcomes the market thinks are most likely. Other experimental formats include What Year Was It?, where users guess the year of an iconic cover, and Linked, a clever word-association game. Readers can also Race to the Red Border with the TIME Jigsaw, assembling legendary magazine covers. Aside from their Jigsaw, TIME uses the PuzzleMe platform for crowd favorites like Word Flower, Sudoku, and Word Search.

Get The Coast Adds Local Flavor to Games
Get The Coast, a local publication based in Okaloosa County, Florida, has learned the ropes of community-driven puzzles by ditching generic themes for neighborhood landmarks and regional trivia. By making the local community the actual subject of the puzzles, they have turned standard games into a daily neighborhood ritual.
On why the team chose an old photo of the Santa Rosa Mall food court for a Jigsaw puzzle, co-founder Laiken Williams:
“Everyone local knows that place, we all have memories growing up there. I asked, ‘What was your favorite memory in the Santa Rosa Mall food court?’ People reply to that. It’s great for engagement.”
The success of Get The Coast underscores a vital lesson for audience engagement: relevance works. When solvers see their own town in a grid or a jigsaw, they develop a habit that generic content can’t replicate. Read our full interview with the founders to see how they do it.

Erik Agard Wins The 48th American Crossword Puzzle Tournament
The American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (ACPT) took place in Stamford, Connecticut last month. The tournament had over 900 in-person solvers, many of whom attended in crossword-themed coats, leggings, socks and hats. The final tournament was won by constructor Erik Agard, who solved the final crossword by Christina Iverson in just 4 minutes and 19 seconds. You can try your hand at the final puzzle by purchasing the ACPT archive here.
The virtual tournament, which used PuzzleMe’s contest mode, had 400+ solvers participating. Virtual solvers and livestream viewers had more to see this year, with Boswords’ Andrew Kingsley conducting interviews with the ACPT constructors and solvers with interesting stories. Kingsley also spoke with our Chairman and Co-Founder, John Temple, about ACPT’s virtual tournament and Amuse Labs’ role in supporting the tournament. You can catch a recording of the livestream by going to ACPT’s Youtube channel here.

The New York Times recently made waves with its first-ever metapuzzle contest, Letters to the Editors. The multi-game challenge required players to solve themed editions of Wordle, Strands, The Mini, Connections, and Spelling Bee to extract five hidden letters, which were then unscrambled into a final word for a chance to win a $100 gift card to the NYT Store.

If you haven’t heard of Rita Ora, you probably aren’t solving enough crosswords. In true bitingly satirical fashion, The Onion’s newest “report” details the tireless work of Rita Ora’s agent, who has successfully booked the singer yet another high-profile gig as a three-letter answer. For crossword constructors, “ORA” has become the ultimate safety net when stuck in a tight corner.

Puzzle of the Month
The Baby Bronco by Alex B. is our pick for this month. It’s a fun mini crossword that uses circled cells and a compass image directly in the grid. It’s a great example of how a few simple visual touches can make a puzzle stand out.
